Fit Reviews | J. Crew Early Spring Collection
J. Crew Work Outfits & Casual Outfits
I’m continuing my popular Fit Reviews today with work outfit and casual outfit inspiration from the new lines at J. Crew. J. Crew has come back on my radar the past couple of years because of the addition of their Petite-Line and addition of Regular 000 sizing. I am now able to more easily purchase items and wear right off the rack instead of tailoring. You’ve seen my previous posts with J. Crew items – click to read on their Fall Collection, striped shirt (on sale now!), bow dress, basic tees, wool coat, leather jacket and denim jacket (see a jacket theme!)

Sizing: I’m 5’1″ and 95 pounds, usually wear XXSP or 00P. See my measurements on my About Page.

Outfit: Graphic Tee XX-Small; Open-front Sweater Blazer X-Small; Sneakers Size 35
Thoughts: I am in love with this graphic tee! It fits very well in size XX-Small and comes in other colors/graphics to find the one that fits your personality. This one was also my favorite because of the neutral taupe color – darker than ivory but not a true camel color. The open-front sweater blazer is a wardrobe staple. J. Crew offers it in 3 colors – camel, navy or black. Size XX-Small fits me best but I’m wearing an X-Small in this photo (only size in my store). This sweater blazer will be great for office to casual wear! Overall, I recommend both the tee and sweater blazer!
Outfit: Twist Front Sweatshirt XX-Small; Martie Pants 00 (too big); Simple Necklace; Watch
Thoughts: This twist front sweatshirt is so cute! I initially picked it up in store because of the color and texture. I was surprised to find it was a twist-front style and it fit well because it is regular-sizing and not too short on my petite-frame. If you have a long torso, this top may be short on you. I recommend this twist front sweatshirt. As for the Martie pants, I definitely need a petite size and they are just not my favorite. My favorite work pants come from Banana Republic (sloan style) in size 00P – shop them here.
Outfit: Bell-sleeve Sheath Dress 00 (need 00P)
Thoughts: This sheath dress is a classic! I love the burgundy color but it also comes in black. I’m holding back the material in this photo because it is a regular size and I definitely would need a 00P. I think it’s well-made, has a feature to accent your waist and will hit right above the knee in the appropriate size. See a similar burgundy bow-dress on me from this blog post (still in stock!). Overall, I recommend this dress for a classic addition to your wardrobe.
Outfit: Wool Ruffle Sleeve Sweater XX-Small; High-Waist Denim Size 24
Thoughts: The ruffle detailing on this sweater is great for spring. I like the gray color but it also comes in a gorgeous pink/coral color or navy. This new 9 inch high-waist denim is a classic jean for everyone’s wardrobe. The size 24 fit well and I would just need petite-sizing for the length. Overall, I recommend both items.
Outfit: Amour Sweater XX-Small; Easy Pant 00 (too big)
Thoughts: This sweatshirt caught my eye and it fits TTS. It would make a great layering piece with a tailored blouse or chambray shirt underneath for colder temperatures. I picked up these Easy Pants to try-on because I was intrigued by the elastic waistband in the back. Unfortunately, they were quite large in size regular 00 but they might be a possibility in petite 000 or 00. Overall, I recommend the Amour sweatshirt and say maybe to the Easy Pant depending on sizing/fit.
Outfit: Striped Cape Scarf; Striped Tee XX-Small (on sale + my blog post); Paige Denim Size 23; Sneakers Size 35
Thoughts: I love this scarf! For those in the market for a neutral scarf, gray and white is a go-to! Plus, you can also wear it as a cape! I saw the 2 holes in it but didn’t figure out to wear it as a cape while in store – how versatile! I highly recommend!
Outfit: Chambray Shirt; Striped Cardigan; Crossbody Bag
Thoughts: Other items I didn’t have a chance to try on. Chambray is a classic and if you don’t own this shirt style yet, I recommend this one. I own an older version of this one. The crossbody is a classic cognac brown color and versatile for running errands. The striped cardigan is a great layering option – or also known as a “completer piece”.
