Polished Tank Dress for $56 // How to Style Winter to Spring
It’s officially spring! Yesterday was the first day of spring and I’m sure many of us don’t feel the warm spring weather yet! It’s been nice here in Southern California but we are preparing for rain the next few days. While we await more spring weather, I’m taking a moment to talk about styling this versatile tank dress. Bonus: this dress is a great deal at $56 and available in several colors year-round!

I LOVE this Leith Ruched Body-Con tank dress because of the fit, versatility and price! I’m wearing size XS and it fits without alterations. The ruched detailing is very flattering on many body types and the length is appropriate for work or weekend! Plus, there are over 1.4k reviews on this dress so you KNOW that it’s a favorite among MANY women! You may also recognize this dress because of the long sleeve version I styled in winter (see on this blog post).
Tips for Picking Out a Versatile & Classic Tank Dress:
Similar to when I talked about a classic sweater and how to style it for work to weekend (read blog post), I’m highlighting the same advice here for a tank dress!
- I recommend a solid color for this purpose. Variations of classic neutral colors add a little more interest while still keeping it versatile. This dress comes in solid colors or heathered colors. I opted for a gray cloudy heather color for my own tank dress.
- Keep the ruffles and too much texture to a minimum. I opted for a ruched style that is very flatting.
- Fit is always important…not just for this piece but for all pieces. Make sure the shoulders fit well, the hem is comfortable and appropriate for different settings (work vs. weekend).
- Fabric is important for comfort. Since this is a polyester/cotton blend, no lining is required with it and stretches VERY well. I’ve even seen women wear it during pregnancy!
- Love it! Of course, you should absolutely LOVE the piece you pick out. Are you so excited to wear it that you cut off the tags and wear it the next day?!

Styling Winter to Spring:
For styling this tank dress for winter to spring, I opted to stay with neutral colors. For winter, I added in my Aquatalia waterproof black boots, black cable-knit scarf and black moto jacket. I kept jewelry to a minimum with my rose-gold watch, pearl bracelet and simple bar necklace. These boots are perfect for spring because many areas get more rain during this time (we sure are in SoCal) and feature a waterproof design! You can read more about them in this blog post.
For transitioning this outfit into warmer spring weather…
- Change out the black riding boots for sandals or open-toed heels
- Remove the scarf
- Change out the moto jacket for a lightweight cardigan or a linen-blend blazer/cardigan
