Why these are my Favorite Work Pants 4 Years Later
Many of you have seen my go-to work pants multiple times over the past 2 years and today I want to give you an update on them. I first wrote about my favorite work pants, the Banana Republic Sloan Pants, in my first blog post in 2016! I’ve owned this pant style for over 4 years now and I’m confident it’s still one of the best work pants on the market today.

I currently own 7 pairs of the Banana Republic Sloan Pants in sizes 00P and 0P. These includes colors: Black, Navy, Gray, Blue, Burgundy, Light Pink and Bright Pink. I have fluctuated between a 00P and 0P over the years and now prefer the 00P for the best fit – purchase here.

Why is this my favorite work pant?
- Classic style – It’s a classic trouser/slack style that will work for years to come.
- Petite friendly – The length of this pant is perfect for petite women like myself. I have never had to tailor the hem length which is a big bonus compared to most work pants on the market.
- Variety of colors – You probably can already tell that this pant comes in a variety of colors to choose from plus BR offers new texture styles throughout the year including my gray trouser and blue trouser designs that are not your normal solid colors.
- Comfortable – The fabric is stretchy and comfortable but not too stretchy that the pants feel big by the end of the day or even after a couple wears.
- Non-Wrinkle – These pants literally do not wrinkle! I wear them all day, many times sitting throughout the day, and they do not show significant wrinkles in them. They also are easy to travel with and fold well without requiring ironing or steaming at my destination.
- Belt Loops – I wear a belt with nearly all my pants and having appropriate belt loops is a must on my work-pants. These belt loops fit my usual 1-inch belt by Talbots (read my blog post) or larger 1.5-inch belt by Tory Burch (read my blog post).
- Care – My pants state “Dry Clean Only” on them and I have done this before but I also substitute with Dryel and Machine Washing on delicate cycle in a laundry bag as well. I also wear the pants multiple times before cleaning them because normal day-to-day wear does not produce a lot of dirt that needs to be washed off.

If you’re not sure about these work pants, here’s what you can do to test them out or test out a similar work pant you are considering:
- Order 3 sizes online (your usual, one lower and one higher) or go into your local store to try them on
- Purchase them and try them on at home
- Wear them around your house for at least 4 hours to see how comfortable they, how stretchy they are and how you feel in them
- After ~4 hours, look in the mirror and observe if they created wrinkles, look bigger from stretchiness, etc.
- Repeat for other sizes
- Make decision and love them!
