Today, I am continuing my Dermalogica Skin Health Series: Part II – My Personal Dermalogica Routine & How to Find your Customized Regimen too! 2 Year Update
I started this Skin Health Series because I want to share my story about skin health. As you know, I am very brand loyal and chose Dermalogica for my skin care regimen. Remember, I started using this product line in December 2015 (~14 months ago) & exclusively use their products now. Read more about my Skin Care Journey in Part I of my Series HERE.
Note: I am a loyal customer of Dermalogica and began my skin care journey with them long before I started this blog. This Series is an honest Dermalogica review. All opinions are my own. This post may contain affiliate links; full disclosures HERE.

My Personal Dermalogica Routine
What have I used over the past 14 months? And what do I currently use today?
Wow, this may be a really long answer… As with any skin care regimen, it can take a little trial-and-error to find what products work best for your skin. Since I switched to Dermalogica (~14 months ago), I have used several different products and product combinations.
Remember, skin care regimens can take WEEKS to show results – so don’t be surprised if you’re not seeing results for 6-8 weeks if switching to a new skin care regimen or routine.
Dermalogica offers several different Product Lines. These include their: Age Smart (anti-aging), Ultracalming (sensitive skin), Medibac Clearing (acne), PowerBright TRX (uneven skin tone) and more. I put in the simple descriptions of each product line; there is much more to each one of them – but let’s leave Dermalogica’s website for those nitty gritty details.
I initially started off with more products in their Medibac Clearing line since I was switching over from Proactiv and wanted to ensure a smoother transition with acne-focused products. I also initially started off with ~4 products: cleanser, mist (toner), moisturizer, acne-focused spot treatment. No need to overwhelm yourself when you first start a new skin care routine!
As my acne improved, I switched off some of their Medibac Clearing line and transitioned over to more Ultracalming products for my sensitive skin. I also slowly added in more products to my skin care routine – incorporating products from ALL 4 product lines listed above!
The beauty of Dermalogica = it’s easy to layer! Products are meant to layer and combine with one another easily. This is why I can keep my acne under control while still hydrating and protecting my sensitive skin and providing a little anti-aging in hyperpigmentation spots!

Don’t be scared by the number of products listed. I slowly worked up to these after starting with ~4 products. I have continued to customize my skin care routine – listening to my skin – and incorporated or changed products as discussed above.
I also have added in some of Dermalogica’s new products & I will continue to report results on those over the next months!
For the most part, this is the order I also use the products from start to finish…cleanser, exfoliant, mist (toner), concentrate/boosters or spot treatments, moisturizer
- Morning:
- Ultracalming Cleanser
- Ultracalming Mist
- Ultracalming Serum Concentrate
- PowerBright Pure Light SPF 50 mixed with Ultracalming Barrier Repair
- Hydrablur Primer – most recent addition to my routine. Using it before I apply tinted moisturizer or foundation!
- Evening:
- Precleanse – my makeup remover!
- Special Cleansing Gel
- Exfoliant – Daily Microfoliant ~2x/week and Daily Superfoliant ~2x/week (sometimes mixed with Special Cleansing Gel) – I do not exfoliate everyday because I have sensitive skin – the Daily Superfoliant is the newest Dermalogia product & part of their Age Smart product line. Daily Superfoliant resurfaces skin and adsorbs environmental pollutants/helps detoxify pores.
- MAP-15 regenerator – sometimes use daily to spot treat – these are hyperpigmention areas that are healing after acne breakouts for me – others may target areas of aging skin
- Acne – Overnight Clearing Gel for mild spot treatment or Special Clearing Booster for significant acne spot treatment of a breakout
- Ultracalming Mist
- Skin Smoothing cream mixed with ~4 drops of Phyto Replenish Oil – The Phyto Replenish Oil product launched in September 2016 and is great for a dewy skin look! It also mixes very easily with moisturizer so you can use daily or twice daily!
- Multivitamin Power Firm for the eye area only
- Masks: We will talk about masks in more detail in another post
- Workout: I carry travel Precleanse Wipes and Skin Purifying Wipes to remove makeup – I also use Skin Purifying Wipes after I workout to remove sweat from my pores – more to come on this in another post! Unfortunately I think these handy wipes are being phased out 🙁

How to Find your Customized Regimen
- Before you run out and purchase my skin care regimen, it is REALLY important that you find the skin care regimen that matches YOUR skin health and goals
- I can talk all day about what I use, but at the end of the day, that doesn’t really matter – we are all different and our skin will react differently as well
- Dermalogica offers a few amazing options for finding your customized regimen
- Option 1: Dermalogica Flagship Store
- Go into your local Dermalogica store to receive a FREE skin mapping consultation with a professional skin therapist!
- This is what I did – YAY for living in the Los Angeles area!
- Thank you Dermalogica on Montana (Santa Monica Flagship location/store and your amazing skin therapists! – special thanks to Annika my esthetician)
- Other Flagship Locations: Soho (New York), Atlanta (Georgia), Scottsdale (Arizona), Freeport (Bahamas), Montreal (Canada). Even more locations in Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa and the Middle East.
- I can’t wait to visit the Soho location in New York City this summer!
- Option 2: Dermalogica online consultation
- Dermalogica Skin Analysis
- This is REALLY convenient for those who don’t live near a flagship store!
- You can put in your basic information and a skin care regimen is recommended for you
- Then, chat with a professional skin therapist about the product recommendations and get more information to customize your routine!
- Option 3: Dermalogica certified store
- Use the online Store Locator feature to find a certified location near you!
- If you are interested in services and a higher level of Dermalogica expertise – be sure to look for the Symbol indicating – “Dermalogica Experts on Staff” in the store description
- I was lucky enough to find a store close to my mom (who lives in Wisconsin) for her to try out services there – I was very happy to know that she would be well taken care of at an “Expert” level location – I can’t wait for her to come to the Dermalogica on Montana location with me when she’s in Los Angeles!
- You can also check what product lines are carried at these stores along with their commitment to Dermalogica – Dermalogica Circle box
I know that was a LOT of information! That ends Part II of my Dermalogica Skin Health Series. Want to know more about my facial routine (you’ve probably seen snaps on my Instagram stories!) and why I believe facials are not just a luxury indulgence?
