How to Shop Cyber Week Intentionally
With holiday sales coming up along with Black Friday and Cyber Monday, let’s take a moment to think about our Cyber Week Strategy and learn how to shop intentionally. Sales and discounts can inevitably entice us to purchase unnecessary items and pull out our credit cards a few too many times. Here are a few tips to plan ahead!
How do I recommend Shopping Cyber Week Intentionally?
First Make your Lists. Separate them by category such as…
- Necessities you need to live day-to-day that you don’t own yet (think household essentials)
- Clothing items you are looking to add to your Capsule Wardrobe (learn more about wardrobe essentials and my 20-piece Capsule Wardrobe Basics on this blog post)
- Holiday gifts broken down into categories (more info below):
- Immediate family
- Extended family
- Friends
- Secret Santa or White Elephant Gift Exchanges
Now that you have your lists well organized and broken into categories, start looking for the sales on these items. Don’t look at sales and add items to your pre-determined lists. That would be the opposite of shopping intentionally!
Many Black Friday ads are already published online and include specific dates for you to shop each item. These pre-announced ads make it great to pair up your LIST with the sales related to these items.
But remember…this is about shopping intentionally and purchasing only items your TRULY LOVE. Don’t purchase something simply because it’s on sale. This leads to buyers remorse, not using or wearing of the item and wasting your hard-earned money! If you need a refresher on this or want to learn more – read my post on Marie Kondo and her KonMari philosophy for decluttering your life and surrounding yourself with items that spark joy!

How do I recommend shopping during Cyber Week?
I believe shopping online is the best way to purchase intentionally. It avoids the wandering through the store to see other deals and sales and the window shopping that occurs while walking through a mall. Yes, I know we need to support our local businesses – the way to continue doing this while shopping intentionally online is to Order Online and Pick up in Store if the item is in stock. If it’s not in stock, then you wouldn’t have found it anyway at your local store and you’ll get it shipped to you. Read more about my Favorite Brands!
