How to Style a Chambray Dress from Casual to Work Settings
We all love chambray button-ups, right?! Well, why not try out a chambray dress that is both comfortable and flattering on many body types? Today, I’m pulling out an oldie but goodie in my closet with this chambray dress! It’s a perfect wardrobe staple and a go-to for spring outfits. Let’s talk about styling this dress from casual to work settings!

As I’ve discussed in my blog post on transitioning casual to business casual clothing options (read post here), there are a few factors that go into transitioning the same piece or substituting items to work for both environments. To simplify that information, you can either purchase a piece that functions in both settings or substitute different accessories such as shoes to align with each environment.
Today, I will be styling a chambray dress that works well in both settings. It has an appropriate neckline with buttons to change the necklace preferences and the hemline is appropriate for both environments. It also features a belt to tie this more polished (think perfect bow) or less polished. Now, substitute the shoes and handbag for casual versus business casual settings.
Casual Setting: Chambray Dress
It’s spring! I’m finally pulling out my favorite block-heeled sandals in a gray tone with this outfit (back in stock for 2018 in 4 colors)! Plus, pairing this ultra-versatile reversible tote bag with them! I’ve owned this tote for years now and am often seen carrying it with the cognac brown side showing with my laptop and planner in it to work. I’ve reversed the tote for this spring outfit so the mint green side is showing and it just puts a smile on my face with this pastel color! Finish off the look with a simple necklace.
Outfit Details:
Dress: Banana Republic Factory XXSP (similar or similar)
Shoes: M. Gemi Attorno size 35.5 (exact back from 2018 in 4 colors! + similar here or here + my blog post on summer sandals)

Necklace: BaubleBar (exact or similar)
Work Setting: Chambray Dress
I wanted to make the transition to work as easy as possible. Thus, I changed out my shoes for closed-toe pumps (with my new no-show sock option). I opted for my favorite subtle mint green heels for this look but you could also go for a neutral or pop of color. Heels with extra detail like a bow design would be perfect – recommendations here, here or here. I then switched out my more casual tote bag for a polished handbag but kept the spring-theme going with a pastel color!
