I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how to get more mileage out of my wardrobe. You know I love KonMari Philosophy and lean towards a capsule-wardrobe mentality. Therefore, I needed my favorite summer pants (think pink colored pants) to transition into fall weather.
I know many of you probably have the same problem so here I share my thoughts on how to transition summer pants into fall! Also read how to transition summer dresses to fall with this post.

1. Add a tweed jacket or blazer
My favorite transition piece from summer to fall is a tweed jacket or blazer. You may have seen my previous post talking about this topic! When I purchased light pink and bright pink pants for work (from Banana Republic) I knew I would need to find ways to transition the spring/summer colors into fall.
For this outfit, I added my favorite tweed jacket, a navy belt, and navy heels. Add in a few darker colors helps with the fall transition.
My tweed jacket is old but there are new styles I recommend from my Favorite Brands:
2. Add a cardigan
I love my cardigans and adding one instantly shows cooler weather is in the air. One of my favorite cardigans is one that is versatile – and can be styled 4 ways! This is the NIC+ZOE 4-way cardy I previously talked about on this post. The navy color accents the pink well and ties in with my accessories/heels.
I also love this black cardigan from Ted Baker (found at Nordstrom) that has extra detailing with different fabric on the front. I opted to pair this outfit with black block heeled sandals to ease the transition from summer to fall. It’s still warm enough for sandal-type shoes but the black color helps bring the cardigan and feel of the outfit into fall.
My favorite cardigans come from Nordstrom, Banana Republic and J. Crew.
3. Add a denim jacket
You know I’ve been loving my denim jacket purchase (from spring) and I was excited to pair it with these bright pink pants to transition into fall. It looks great buttoned or unbuttoned. Again, I finished off the outfit with simple accessories (necklace) and dark heels. If you’re wondering why I’m wearing the same heels in all the outfits – I have minimal shoes in my wardrobe – read more here & how to wear them all-day in comfort.
4. Add dark accessories and shoes
I’ve styled these pink pants with dark accessories two ways. The first, I added one of my favorites – a lace top! I opted for a dark color in navy (with a matching navy camisole underneath), navy belt and navy bow heels.
The second outfit includes the same dark accessories with a navy belt and navy bow heels but continues to brighten up the top in a pink sleeveless blouse and white/cream colored blazer. I wear white all year round and think that this is an excellent way to make a transition into fall.
